1
00:00:00.120 --> 00:00:04.589
Welcome to Oversight. You're now part of the
front line that protects our country from

2
00:00:04.589 --> 00:00:10.690
terrorists, predators, illegal immigrants
and benefit fraudsters. Thank you for volunteering.

3
00:00:10.690 --> 00:00:14.870
Oversight is contracted by the government
to operate their automated filter. The filter

4
00:00:14.870 --> 00:00:19.360
looks at every bit of internet traffic that
travels through the UK. When it finds something

5
00:00:19.360 --> 00:00:24.010
suspicious, it'll pass it on to you or one
of the thousands of volunteers like yourself.

6
00:00:24.010 --> 00:00:27.640
When you log in to your dashboard, you'll
see a list of possible incidents. Click on

7
00:00:27.640 --> 00:00:29.780
any to investigate.

8
00:00:29.780 --> 00:00:33.870
Is this a jokey email between friends, or
a serious incident worth reporting to the

9
00:00:33.870 --> 00:00:39.030
police? You've got the tools to find out.
You can read the subject lines of emails;

10
00:00:39.030 --> 00:00:43.629
the web sites they've visited; information
from social networks; location history; credit

11
00:00:43.629 --> 00:00:47.359
card purchases; and information about their
friends and family.

12
00:00:47.359 --> 00:00:51.329
If you need to access more personal information,
like the contents of their emails and documents,

13
00:00:51.329 --> 00:00:55.609
or the individual web pages they've read,
click to apply for a search warrant: it'll

14
00:00:55.609 --> 00:01:01.659
normally be granted within 15 to 30 seconds.
In many cases, this isn't necessary: 34% of

15
00:01:01.659 --> 00:01:06.590
UK adults have opted-in to our Clearway program,
giving you immediate access to help prevent

16
00:01:06.590 --> 00:01:07.980
crime.

17
00:01:07.980 --> 00:01:12.590
If you find someone too difficult to investigate,
don't waste time: immediately escalate to

18
00:01:12.590 --> 00:01:16.910
a supervisor. We find that deliberately hiding
your tracks is usually a sign of criminal

19
00:01:16.910 --> 00:01:17.780
activity.

20
00:01:17.780 --> 00:01:22.100
Thanks to our agreements with Oversight's
sister companies around the world, that same

21
00:01:22.100 --> 00:01:27.310
information is now available about citizens
of over 70 countries. If you speak a second

22
00:01:27.310 --> 00:01:32.580
language, you may sometimes be assigned to
jurisdictions outside the UK. Legal and social

23
00:01:32.580 --> 00:01:36.980
restrictions in other countries may differ
from your own: remember to be impartial, and

24
00:01:36.980 --> 00:01:39.550
follow the instructions on screen.

25
00:01:39.550 --> 00:01:43.910
And finally: don't tell your friends that
you're part of our team. Our filtering systems

26
00:01:43.910 --> 00:01:48.480
are effective because they're universal: there
really is no way to avoid them, and you never

27
00:01:48.480 --> 00:01:52.620
know who might be part of Oversight... including
that person you're bragging to.

28
00:01:52.620 --> 00:01:58.140
So thank you once again for volunteering.
With your help, we can keep ourselves, our

29
00:01:58.140 --> 00:02:00.610
children, and our world safe.
